Accident/Injury Request for Information: Resources
Have you received a letter in the mail from Machinify, formerly The Rawlings Company, LLC about an accident/injury? If you have, make sure you respond to the letter as soon as you can to prevent the possibility of your coverage being canceled.
What is an accident or injury request letter?
An accident or injury request letter is sent out if you get hurt, injured or have an accident and another party may belegally responsible for it.
If there is evidence of possible injury or accident involving a third party, you will receive two separate letters via mail about it from Machinify, a company that Iowa Total Care has partnered with to help resolve accident or injury related issues. The letters ask questions to learn more about what caused the accident or injury, like if you fell at work or if someone injured you.
Examples of an accident/injury are:
- Third-party liability/other party liability.
- Slip and fall or premises liability.
- Motor vehicle accident (MVA).
- Attorney requesting medical records.
- Workers' compensation.
- Settlement.
- Injuries related to an accident.
Your Medicaid coverage may be canceled if you don’t respond to the request for information. If your coverage has been canceled, it is important to contact us as soon as you can. If you delay, you may have to reapply for Medicaid to be covered again.
To provide the information requested on the accident or injury request letters, call Machinify at 1-888-285-1276, Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM.
If your Medicaid coverage has been cancelled, Machinify will notify Iowa Medicaid that you have cooperated. To avoid delays in your redeterminations process and prevent any gaps in coverage, make sure to respond before the due date on the request letter.
Please note: Information about the accident or injury must be provided to be eligible for Medicaid, even if redetermination paperwork has been accepted by the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services.
