Implementation April 1, 2022 of National Imaging Associates, Inc. (NIA) Expanded Partnership for Physical Medicine Providers

Iowa Total Care is pleased to announce that beginning April 1, 2022, we will be expanding our partnership with National Imaging Associates, Inc. (NIA) to provide utilization management for outpatient rehabilitative and habilitative therapy services for Iowa Total Care’s members. This program is consistent with industry-wide efforts to ensure that physical medicine services provided to our members are consistent with nationally recognized clinical guidelines.
All preauthorization requests to initiate or continue outpatient rehabilitation and habilitative therapy services submitted on or after April 1, 2022 must be submitted to NIA. Authorizations can be obtained through the NIA website, www.RadMD.com, or by calling NIA’s Call Center at 1-866-493-9441.
Services requiring preauthorization by NIA include:
- Outpatient and telehealth physical therapy services
- Outpatient and telehealth occupational therapy services
- Outpatient and telehealth speech therapy services

The rehabilitative and habilitative therapy service preauthorizations that should continue to be submitted to Iowa Total Care include:
- Therapy services provided in the member’s home as part of a member’s home health plan of care.
