Final Update on Chiropractic Recovery Project

Iowa Total Care has cancelled the following chiropractic recoupment projects:
- PROJ-245659162
- PROJ-245572546
The recoupment projects were specific to chiropractic claims billed with Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Codes containing the incorrect number of spinal regions indicated by the diagnosis code(s).
As previously reported, claims incurred in 2019 and 2020 have been removed from the recoupments. Claims that do not have enough primary spinal region codes to support the CPT code billed for 2021 and 2022 claims will be submitted in new projects. New letters will be sent to the providers. These providers can submit corrected claims to be paid and timely filing will be waived.
Current day claims that do not contain the required number of spinal region diagnoses to support the CPT code billed will be denied. Providers should submit corrected claims that contain the required number of primary spinal region diagnosis codes for reconsideration.
